5 Ways to Improve Your Mental Health This Summer

Summertime is often seen as a time to relax and enjoy ourselves. And while that is definitely true, it's also the perfect opportunity to create some space for new goals, experiences, and priorities.

Between the longer days and warmer weather, this season has a lot to offer. When we channel our focus and energy toward prioritizing ourselves and our mental health, we lay the foundation for the best that summer - and, honestly, the rest of our lives - has to offer!

If you're looking to make the most of this change of pace, here are five ways to improve your mental health this summer:

Relax outdoors

One of the best things about summer is that we can finally spend more time outside! Make the most of it by finding a place in nature where you can relax and recharge. Whether it's your backyard, a nearby park, or even just a sunny spot on your balcony, being outdoors improves mood and reduces stress levels.

I love packing my sustainable Seagull Cooler up with some water and snacks, grabbing a book, and heading to the park to enjoy some fresh air and Vitamin D.

Go for a walk

Walking is not only good for your physical health, but it can also do wonders for your mental wellbeing. When we take the time to move our bodies and get some fresh air, we're giving ourselves a chance to clear our heads and recenter our thoughts.

Explore local farmers market

One of the best things about summer produce is that it's so fresh and delicious! Make a point to explore your local farmer's market and stock up on some seasonal fruits, vegetables, and other goodies. Not only will you be eating healthier, but you'll also be supporting your community.

Have a picnic

Picnics are the perfect summer activity! They're simple to put together and give you a chance to enjoy the outdoors while spending time with friends or family. If you're feeling extra adventurous, try packing a lunch and heading to a location you haven't yet explored.

Make sure to bring a cooler with you on your picnic, so your food and drinks stay fresh and cold! I love the Out of the Woods Dolphin Cooler. It’s super sustainable and has tons of room to pack lunch for a group! Or it can fit 24 cans if you’re planning a boozier picnic 😉

Reconnect with someone

Summer is ideal for catching up with old friends or reconnecting with family members. Make the most of the warmer weather by planning a BBQ, going on a day trip, or just spending some time chatting over coffee - preferably iced. If you didn't share smiles and stories over cold drinks, did summer even happen?

Any of these activities are great ways to improve your mental health this summer, but you really can't go wrong if you're doing what feels best for you. Pack your cooler with some goodies, and enjoy the outdoors.

If you’re looking for a sustainable cooler that doesn’t take up a lot of space (who else has a tiny apartment? 🙋🏼‍♀️) buy one of these Out of the Woods coolers! You’ll get 20% off + free shipping below!

And don’t forget to go at your own pace, stay hydrated, wear sunscreen, and enjoy every sunny moment!
